In January the Museum of Modern Art will host a performance of her “Sticks” — dancers use a wall and 10-foot-long sticks to play with perspective and gravity — in conjunction with its exhibition “On Line: Drawing Through the Twentieth Century,” and in March, Dance Theater Workshop presents the revival of “For MG: The Movie” (1991). In that mysterious, enigmatic dance — it’s a beauty, set to a score by Alvin Curran— Ms. Brown wanted to “slip dancers on and off the stage as they do in film,” she once told an interviewer.

Alvin Curran commissioned by Integra

With a musical style described as ‘a volatile mix of lyricism and chaos, structure and indeterminacy, fog horns, fiddles and fiddle heads’, internationally renowned composer Alvin Curran has been awarded one of Integra’s five new commissions. His work will utilise the Integra software and will be supported by Muzyka Centrum. The premiere, which will be given by Ars Nova, will take place in September 2011.
